We are traveling the country by train, taking 4 weeks to see different sites and visit with family. We first made our way from Jacksonville to Allentown PA to visit family. We then traveled to NY and out to Chicago, where we boarded the Southwest Chief to Missouri. This stop gave us a chance to visit with our son. Our next hop took us to Colorado, where we took a side trip aboard the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway. Back on board the Southwest Chief, we rode to Williams AZ to take the Grand Canyon Railway. We finished our run on the Southwest Chief at its terminus in Los Angeles, and then rode up the Pacific Coast on the beautiful Coast Starlight to Emeryville, just across the bay from San Francisco. After a day to sightsee, we returned on the Coast Starlight to LA, where we will board the Texas Eagle to ride along the southern US border to San Antonio.
A couple of days later we will continue on the Sunset Limited to New Orleans and then take the Crescent from New Orleans to Greensboro NC, where we will visit Cathy's family. Our final leg will take us from Raleigh NC to Jacksonville FL for a complete round trip in 29 days.
