After spending a week exploring more of Gros Morne National Park, we made our way into central Newfoundland in the last 2 weeks of June, starting with the small town of Little Bay and further east along the Exploits River toward Bishops Falls and up north to Twillingate.

Between rainy days and gorgeous sunny days, we made the most of our last few days on the Great Northern Peninsula. The highlights were a boat tour on Western Brook Pond, a conversation with some local fisherman, and a surprise reunion with friends Val and Graham.

We arrived in Little Bay just as the annual capelin harvest was beginning. It was a happening event for the locals and for us as well. We saw a couple of whales, eagles and gulls all feasting on the abundance. Making our way further south and east, we stopped by the Exploits River in Bishops Falls and then reconnected with Val and Graham at Notre Dame Provincial Park.

We ended the month in Twillingate, where we again had a surprise meetup with our friend Gerry. She joined us for a night at the New World Island Dinner Theater. On Canada Day, we explored the tip of the island with an historic lighthouse, some scenic coastal hikes and a lovely boondocking spot.
Our next few days would take us along the small coastal towns further east on the Road to the Shore.
